You Can Do This Project

What a wonderful idea that Kim Vlasnik over at the blog Texting My Pancreas had!
The You Can Do This Project.
Letting others know what diabetes is really like and letting them also know that they have the strength to do this.
There are so many great videos out there. Check out her blog, where she has them all listed.

And here's my contribution. Me, in all my glory. Oh dear Lord...

I also thought that the Deaf community might need some inspiration, so I recorded a 'You Can Do This' for any Deaf people who use ASL (American Sign Language) in the DOC.
No subtitles folks, you gotta know ASL to see what I say:

Very sweet Penny.. In so many ways. I've already admired you in the past for your ability to handle both autism and type 1...I'm sure overwhelming sometimes. And, your video was just so great, uplifting, down to earth and real. Loved it. And, also loved the ALS inclusion. You're a great lady!

I loved watching your ASL video....I took sign language in college so it was fun to see what I remembered (more than I thought!).
Loving all these "You Can Do This" vlogs!
(and yes, we NEED to all meet up!)

You bring a smile to my face Penny. You are beautiful. I love your realism and your "can do" attitude.

The wash and phone bit had me cracking up!

I love your video!! Thank you so much for participating in You Can Do This. You are an inspiration to many, and I'm so glad you added your voice to the project.

Much love!

(P.S. Have you added a link to your post/video to the link list? I didn't see it, and I want people to be able to find you!) :)

Awesome! Thank you for sharing. Also loved the ASL video. I don't know much ASL, but it was fun to watch. Almost like a dance. Glad I'm not the only mom who finds peace in doing the laundry with the kids in bed.

Loved it Penny! We are too close not to get together. So let's do it. Get your calendar out. Let's meet up, baby!

Hi My name is Tricia and this is the first time I've seen your blog, Penny! I loved your videos! Yes, both! I used to be fluent in ASL, not as much, but I followed you better than I thought I would! I've been living with diabetes 32 years and want you to know this made me teary-eyed thinking of what my parents must have gone through with me growing up. It absolutely warms my heart to see parents so involved like you are! I think you're doing an awesome job! Keep up the good work!:) And, as you know, you're not alone, either;)

I'm sitting at my desk bawling. Its my first day back to work since my son was diagnosed last Wednesday. My son has sever food allergies. I was already "that" crazy mom. His father (my ex hubby) abandoned us 2 years ago. I laid in the hospital bed wednesday night and cried (once my baby was asleep of course). I kept asking God "wasn't abandonment and sever food allergies enough?" I kept saying to myself "I don't know if I can do this" Thank you for your video. I would LOVE to talk to you some time. my email address is ladybuglacy at yahoo.com
