What In The Bleep Bleep Is This About?
The last three night Grace has had crazy numbers at her 2 am check...
319
241
335
What? The girl is usually very steady at 2 am, like clockwork.
So, overnight basal testing we do. And here's how it all went down...
6 pm - 165, dinner and bolus
10 pm - 109 and bed
12 am - 268 (Yes I should have stopped the basal test and bolused, but my curiosity got the best of me and I really wanted to see what she did between 12 am and 2 am. This will come to bite me in the butt. Seriously hard.)
2 am - HIGH
2 am - retest, 407
As I said...
What In The Bleep Bleep Is This About?
So, here I sit, typing a blog post, wide awake.
She is slowly coming down.

Growth spurt?
Hormones?
God's little joke?

Good luck in figuring it out Penny...sounds like our nights for the summer. Right when I think I have it figured out - the Number Gods throw me a "curve ball".
Maybe a rebound from a low after the 10pm #???
You'll whip "d" right back into shape!!!
P.S. Love the WITBITA
I will now be using
WITBBITA
as a regular part of my daily vocab.
Only cool people will get it :)
I've heard that overnight highs may be from a growth spurt, since growth hormones are excreted at night.
But...who knows...right?
Good luck!
WITBBITA- Brilliant!
I am with Wendy- I feel cool all ready! Correcting at night always freaks me out, I hope you get it figured out. Growth, late sugar dump from early low, post exercise high, the heat, the cold, breathing-with D sometimes we never know! Hope you are sleeping soon!
Good luck with that...I kind of think it's God's little joke. To keep us on our toes.
I let the basal test go over the high 200s all the time.
Our experience is we saw spikes that peak about 60 minutes after they fall asleep then drop off. We run the basal up about 90 -120 minutes before bedtime and then drop them back off just after. Of course - YDMV.
Thanks for all your comments and thoughts DOC - I knew you would understand and have a moment of commiseration with me. A tip of the hat to you all...
We have made some changes.
Let's see how it rolls folks.
Diabetes sure likes to throw us curve balls every now and then. Hope you get this figured out and get some sleep soon!
I'm sitting here on the computer trying to take my angry mind off of the "High" message Taylar's PDM just gave me. Not that it's good for either of us to see "high", but at least I don't feel like I'm alone anymore.
thanks for putting up the buttons! will have to go post to my blog!
